Advancing the Transformational Healing Power & Reach of Victim Advocacy:

A Strengths-Based Approach Allowing Survivors to Embrace Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG) for Recovery & Healing after Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault

SLIDES from Workshop Available HERE

Oddly enough, the same experiences trauma victims face that create Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can also produce a psychological rebirth and transformation for survivors in Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG). This PTG phenomenon, identified in the early 1990s by researchers Tedeschi and Calhoun, holds that following adversity, people can experience positive personal growth and opportunity even as they struggle to heal. For twenty years, Susan Omilian, a trauma survivor herself, has successfully used an innovative, evidence-based survivor-to-thriver pathway premised on this PTG research with hundreds of survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Her dramatic story and the “life-changing” PTG tools and techniques of the innovative motivational model she has developed are a clarion call to action for the victim advocacy community that victims can do more than just survive trauma. They can reclaim their lives and thrive!

Susan Omilian, Founder of the Thriver Zone

Hi! I’m Susan Omilian, Founder and CEO of the Thriver Zone
In 1999, after my nineteen-year-old niece Maggie was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend, I began my own personal journey helping women reclaim their lives after abuse as Maggie could not. Since then, I have worked with hundreds of survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse, helping them take the journey from victim to survivor to thriver. Women who reclaim their lives in this way are less likely to return to an abusive relationship or suffer the long-term psychological consequences of abuse.

To learn more about Maggie, the inspiration behind this very powerful work, and to hear and celebrate Thriver Success Stories, watch this short video.

Check out bookstrainings and workshops and The Thriver Zone Motivational Model™ helping hundreds of women reclaim the thriver inside.
