There is a journey beyond abuse…
Beyond being a victim — or even a survivor.
It is the spiritual journey to becoming a “thriver”
…a healthy, happy person with a brilliant, productive future.
Enter the Thriver Zone and take the Journey to the Real YOU!™
We know she is there. She is our strongest advocate and best cheerleader. She loves us very much and wants us to do well. Each time we make contact with this part of us that is the “Real You,” we are truly living our Happy Ending.
We don’t have to wait until some time in the future to tap into the best part of our lives. The best part of our lives can be right now!
Imagine how that will feel!
I’m ready to discover The ROAD MAP for the Journey to the Real YOU!™
For women who have lived through abuse, it is hard for us to imagine that we can create the life we want, or that fairy tales can indeed come true. But they can. Each of us has an inner “road map” that can lead us to our happy ending. We just have to discover that path and go there!
Yes, fairy tales can come true — YOUR fairy tale can come true — and the Thriver Zone has the tools to help!
Choose Your Path
Where are you on YOUR journey to thriver?
- I am a victim of abuse, where do I go from here?
- I was a victim of abuse, how can I be more than a “survivor?”
- I am a thriver, how can I stay in the Thriver Zone?
I am ready to choose my path on the Journey Beyond Abuse
To help women move into the THRIVER ZONE after abuse, Susan Omilian has developed a Seven-Step motivational model using writing exercises and interactive activities that she has used successfully in her My Avenging Angel Workshops™ and has included in The Thriver Workbook: Journey from Victim to Survivor to Thriver!
Susan’s work is unique and innovative as she has not only articulated a journey to wholeness for women who have been abused, but also provides a clear path for them to take that journey. With the kind of growth and renewed self confidence Susan’s work promotes, women can permanently break the cycle of violence and reclaim their lives.
Now that you know the Seven Steps, get ready to discover the Road Map for the Journey to the Real YOU!
One in four women in the U.S. experience abuse in their lifetime. If you’ve been abused, you’re not alone, and there is support and guidance.
My Avenging Angel WorkshopsTM provide the critical “next step” for women who have been abused to permanently break the cycle of violence and reclaim their lives. Based on the idea that “living well is the best revenge,” the workshops allow women to uncover their hidden talents, find the focus of their creative potential and transform their lives in positive, productive ways.

Join us for an enlightening, empowering evening about changing women’s lives!
With live music, positive energy and inspiring success stories, this event will inspire anyone on a journey of self-discovery, heightened self-esteem and healing to permanently break the cycle of violence in their lives and create a new future for themselves and their children.
The evening’s Special Guest will be actress Meredith Baxter, a Thriver Success Story! In her talk, Breaking Family Ties: Empowering Ourselves to Overcome Domestic Violence, Meredith offers her own inspiring story of courage, hope, self-acceptance and happiness.
While performing acclaimed roles on television including Family Ties and over fifty movies, Meredith has also faced domestic abuse, battled alcoholism and breast cancer, and started her own business while raising five children.
In addition to speaking at the event, Meredith will sign copies of her book, Untied: A Memoir of Family, Fame, and Floundering, available for sale at the event. Told with insight, wit, and disarming frankness, Untied is the eye-opening and inspiring life of an actress, a woman, and a mother who has come into her own.
This event is a fundraiser for CT-ALIVE, a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower victims and their families to heal after experiencing the trauma of violence and abuse by providing support, advocacy and education.
CT-ALIVE currently supports the Never Going Back to Abuse Project which builds on the life-saving work of the domestic violence shelters and sexual assault crisis center in this state. While the goal of those programs is to get the women safely out of abuse, this project helps women stabilize their lives emotionally, financially and socially so that they will not return to an abusive relationship in the future.
Collaborating with CT-ALIVE to produce this fundraising event is Susan Omilian, also of West Hartford, who is the owner of Butterfly Bliss Productions LLC and Vanessa Stevens of Waterbury, a singer/songwriter and creator of The Purple Song Project.
Susan is the award-winning originator and facilitator of My Avenging Angel Workshops™, which have helped hundreds of women take the journey of self-discovery and heightened self-awareness from victim to survivor to thriver. Susan’s workshops are currently sponsored by the Domestic Violence Prevention Program at Hartford Hospital and supported by CT-ALIVE’s Never Going Back to Abuse Project. Her recently published The Thriver Workbook sets forth the motivational guidance she has successfully used in her workshops dedicated to the memory of her 19-year-old niece Maggie, killed in 1999 by her ex-boyfriend. Susan now helps other victims reclaim their lives as Maggie could not.
Vanessa Stevens is a singer/songwriter who created The Purple Song Project, which offers survivors of domestic violence hope, healing & awareness through song. With her own original music based on her experiences as a survivor of abuse, Vanessa hopes to make the public more aware of the dynamics of domestic violence, its effects and how to break its emotionally destructive cycle. Vanessa’s songs of healing and thriving after abuse are included on The Thriver Workbook Companion CD which she co-produced with Susan Omilian.
Copies of The Thriver Workbook and Companion CD will be available at the event.
The event will be held at the Mandell Jewish Community Center (JCC) at 335 Bloomfield Ave, West Hartford, CT 06117. A reception, included in the price of admission, will be held from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. and the program will begin promptly at 7 p.m. Program sponsorships are available and tickets on are sale at http://thriverspirit.eventbrite.com. Ticket prices for this fundraising event are $50 for general admissions with student/senior citizen tickets available.
