Described by participants as “life-changing,” My Avenging Angel Workshops™ provide the critical “next step” for women to break permanently out of the cycle of violence and “thrive” after abuse.
Workshops are FREE!
It was a good day for thriving, Saturday, June 29 at our monthly Archangel follow-up session where former victims of abuse — now thrivers — enjoyed an Expressive Arts exercise led by Christine Rodrigue.
The workshop was a hit and helped the women to further their healing.
On Thursday, April 25, at its Third Annual Connecticut Women’s Conference, the Connecticut Women’s Alliance honored Susan Omilian as 2013 “Woman of Distinction” for her work helping women who have been abused move from victim to survivor to thriver!
This presentation, sponsored by Soroptimist International of Farmington Valley, will focus on providing a greater understanding of the nature and scope of domestic violence in Connecticut. The panel will offer prevention and intervention tips as well as tools on how communities and individuals can make a difference.
This awareness program is free and open to the public.

To mark October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Susan Omilian, Author of The Thriver Workbook: Journey from Victim to Survivor to Thriver! and Originator/Facilitator of My Avenging Angel Workshops™, will speak on Thursday, October 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the St. John’s Episcopal Church in Waterbury, Connecticut.
Also performing will be singer/songwriter Vanessa Stevens, creator of The Purple Song Project (purplesong.com), offering survivors of domestic violence hope, healing & awareness through song. Vanessa’s “violence recovery” music is included on The Thriver Workbook Companion CD.
The event is sponsored by Safe Haven of Greater Waterbury, (safehavengw.org), a non-profit organizations that provides emergency shelter and free comprehensive support services to victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
This is a video from the World Shelter Conference that Susan Omilian attended from Monday February 27 to Thursday March 1st in Washington DC. On Tuesday, February 28, actress Reese Witherspoon handed out the Avon Foundation Communications Awards: Speaking Out About Violence Against Women. The conference brought 1400 people from 96 nations together to share global efforts to end violence against women. It was an inspiring gathering that made it clear that we need to not only get women out of abusive environment but get them thriving after abuse!
As a SPONSOR, a number of businesses and individuals are helping a community of women celebrate their journey of thriving after abuse by supporting the May 5th Thriver Spirit & Song Event featuring actress Meredith Baxter. They have made a commitment to end the long-term impact of abuse in the lives of women and children with their tax-deductible donation to CT-ALIVE. Thank you!
